Hi all,

This is the new script, it is imperative that we learn our lines and know exactly when we will be saying them.

Cheers,

Neale

AT FIRST DIALOGUE IS IMPROVISED AND THEN TOMAS STARTS THE ACTION

1) Tomas - Could you pass the wine please.

THE WINE IS PASSED BUT IS SPILT

2) Neale – Sorry about that I’ll mop it up.

3) Filiz – Looks like the start of a Jackson Pollock.

4) Leonardo - Who is Jackson Pollock?

5) Aaron – He was an American artist famous for his Action Paintings during the Mid 20th Century. He was dubbed ‘Jack the Dripper’ by ‘Time’ magazine.

6) Leonardo – What is an Action Painting?

7) Filiz – There are some examples of his paintings on the wall.

8) Neale – Action Painting is a form of Abstract Expressionism the other being Colour Field Painting. Jackson Pollock communicated his innermost feelings and experiences by pouring, dripping and spattering paint onto the canvass.

9) Leonardo – Where does Abstract Expressionism come from?

10) Aaron – Abstract Expressionism was a post-war American art movement. The American art critique Harold Rosenberg coined the term Action Painting in 1952.

11) Tomas – I’ve seen Pollock’s work in the Moma when I was in New York, I was not impressed. I think anyone could do that! (STATED PATRONISINGLY)

12) William – I viewed ‘Summertime: Number 9A’ at the Tate Modern. I was not impressed either. (STATED PATRONISINGLY)

13) Neale - If you think that it’s easy, why don’t you have a go! (STATED CHALLENGINGLY)

14) Tomas – Okay I will. Watch this! (STATED DEFIANTLY)

15) William – Come on lets all have a go! (STATED EXCITEDLY)

THE OTHERS GET UP, LOOK AT EACH OTHER FOR A MOMENT, AND THEN JOIN IN

THE WAITER COMES BACK (MUST BE AS NORMAL AS POSSIBLE AT FIRST)

16) Waiter - You’ve all gone crazy. You need psychiatric help! (STATED WORRYINGLY)

WE ALL LOOK AT THE WAITER AND THEN EVERYONE GRABS THEIR GLASSES DEFIANTELY AND RAISES A TOAST:

“HERES TO JACKSON POLLOCK AND AMERICAN ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM.” (STATED LOUDLY)

WAITER SHAKES HIS HEAD AND PRESENTS THE TUTORS WITH THEIR BILL.

We are runing out of time

Please make up your mind about final text for receipt as tomorrow is last day for me
being able print it out. My only advise would be just ti keep it simple.

The last line

I'm not so sure about the last line on the receipt.
What about something like:

A similar process of self expression is involved
in cookery as well as in creating a piece of art.

LUCIFER

Hey, LUCIFER as the name of the restaurant is fantastic!

It is a restaurant name -I have seen it-
plus it is perfect in this context;
I read a lot about the demons of Pollock
(as he was a troubled man)
and is said that his demons come out of his paintings!
