We want to celebrate a person and a movement indigenous to America; Jackson Pollock and abstract expressionism. We want to celebrate it through the means of food. Since in our group we all are from different places we thought that food was an interesting starting point to discuss about what was indigenous to one particular place and why. Following the idea ‘appetite for change’ we thought we could make use of food, in this case different types of sauces, to create an abstract piece of art. By using action art we create an instant piece of expression, made out with different hands and different sauces, which brings some question regarding abstract expressionist art, individualism Vs collectivism, the use of food and its colours or the randomness of actions.
We thought that by doing a collective performance we could both celebrate Pollock’s work and bring some questions
